Q. Are there multiple styles?
A. Metal roofing comes in countless forms to fit any decor and functionality. Some of the most popular are Stone Coated Metal, Standing Seam, Rib Roofing, and Shingle.

Q. What materials are used in making Stone Coated Steel Roofing Systems?
A. Stone Coated Steel Roof Systems use steel panels that are protected from the elements by corrosion resistant Galvalume. The basecoat uses proprietary resins, which have been developed over many years to promote lifetime performance in all climates. The stone chips that are used in Stone Coating are non-oiled natural granite granules that improve adherence to the basecoat while enhancing the appearance of panels.

Q.   Is a Metal Roof Heavy?
A. At only 1.4 lbs. per square foot, a Stone Coated Steel Roof is truly “lightweight”. Concrete and clay roofs can weigh up to 15 lbs per square foot! In fact a stone coated roof is even lighter than most high-grade asphalt roof shingles.

Q. Is a Stone Coated Steel Roof noisy?
A. No! The dead air space between Stone Coated Steel Roof Panels and the roof deck allows a hollow cavity resulting in seperated contact toteh sub decking, thus reducing noise and creating premium air flow for ventilation which results in cooler structures in the summer and warmer structures in the winter.

Combined with are horizontally locking ring shank nail or screw the system is virtually indestructable.

Q. Does an existing roof need to be torn off to install a Stone Coated Steel Roof?
A. Not necessarily. Stone Coated Steel Roofs can be installed over existing wood shingle, shake or composition roofs. Your local contractor will check local building codes. Additional preparation work may be necessary to get the surface ready for your new stone coated metal roof.

Q. Is a Stone Coated roof safe during an earthquake?
A. Unlike the dangerous load on a home’s structure caused by concrete or clay tile roofing materials, Stone Coated Steel Roofing Panels which weigh about 1/8th of the previously mentioned heavyweight choices can strengthen a home’s structure with its interlocking design.

Q. Can a Stone Coated roof be walked on?
A. Yes. Stone Coated Roofing Systems can be walked on without breaking or cracking, unlike concrete and clay roofs. Care should be taken not to walk on the raised rib portions of the panel.
